Black and gold are all the rage in party planning at the moment and you can even use some of the inspiration shared for a New Year's Party, elegant bridal shower or a stylish night with friends. Sarah's shared a few photos of her event with us that featured our chic black and gold dot wooden dessert forks in her display and we knew we had to see if she would like to share the full party shots with you. As long as I can remember, I have had a passion for entertaining. Perhaps it started with my love for GREAT food and cocktails, but it soon led to an ever increasing collection of napkin rings, chargers, vases and place card holders. Be Envied Entertaining was conceived as an online resource to provide inspiration, ideas and tips to help you wow your guests and make it easier to entertain in enviable fashion.
Black, White and Gold Christmas
In 2014, Black and White was a hot trend for decor and interior design, so I decided to make it my theme and inspiration for my holiday party. However, when I think of the holidays I always need to have some shimmer in my design so that is where the gold came in. So needless to say with the popularity of both of these color palettes my search for coordinating products was fairly easy.
My starting off point was the black, white and gold striped paper from Paper Source for my table cover. Instead of using it as a runner I rolled it across the table and made it into an entire table cover. You can also use this paper to wrap presents or boxes that may be used to elevate food items on your table.
My next step was to pick out the desserts. I always go with three main items as I feel that is a good number to choose from for guests who may be a little pickier than others. These black and white striped cake pops from Zazzle were the perfect choice for my decor. Not only were they pretty but were super moist and delicious.
I went with an Etsy Vendor for the cookies as I just fell in love with these snowflakes with the gold details. Terri from Treats buy Terri sent made these beautifully designed cookies with this amazing lemon flavor.
To stick with a snowflake theme, I used my snowflake bundt pan to bake this Dark Chocolate Sour Cream Cake from Williams-Sonoma. The snowflake pan hold 5 cups and the recipe is for a 10 cup pan, so you will get two cakes out of this batter. Dust them right before serving with some white powdered sugar for a winter white presentation.
The chic black and gold dot modern dessert forks from The Bakers Party Shop were perfect not only for the display but to serve with the rich chocolate snowflake cake. They would be great for a New Year's Eve party or to serve with wedding cake as well.
The invites were a great find as they encompassed all of my design elements including the black, white and gold and also the snowflakes. They came from, an Etsy vendor as well, Stockberry Studio. Also a downlaodable product to save on cost. I found fabulous food tags from My Crayons Papeterie (also from Etsy) that matched the invites perfectly. I always order instant downloads from Etsy that are editable and take them to Office Max to have printed and cut. Most times my menu is pretty solid, however, if I try something new and it doesn't work out, it is always nice to be able to edit the food tag on your own.
The favor boxes were from Beau-Coup, an amazing party supply website. Easy to put together, I filled them with all of my guests favorite Christmas candy and played a little game to see who could guess which box contained their candy. I also had 6 boxes containing gift cards that guests could win as well. I placed these on acrylic risers to make them the anchor for my table and placed white an gold bows on top.
The stickers from Tiny Prints tied in perfectly with the striped boxes and allowed me to wish all of my guests a very Merry Christmas. These would also make great gift tags!
I am a big fan of cute little cocktail napkins and found gold dot Kate Spade napkins from Swoozies. Also, around New Years you can typically find napkins with great sayings on them in a black and white palette like the ones featured in this party from Swoozies. Themed napkins are a great way to add detail for an affordable price.
I stumbled upon the Champagne and just had to have it for this party. Chandon is featuring these Limited Edition bottles for the holiday season. They are perfect for this color palette and a great item for a celebration. For only $20 per bottle this is a great sipping Champagne with great style!
The banner is from Etsy as well, Fresh Lemon Blossoms, and was the perfect backdrop for this chic party. I hung it from the mirror behind the table and it sparkled from the little white twinkle lights on my tree. Merry and Bright, an modern Christmas saying in a stunning gold glitter texture for a modern dessert table. I hope you enjoyed a walk through my event.
