I can't wait to share with you on how to make gorgeous, glittering edible fall leaf accents for all your seasonal confections and decorated desserts. It’s very simple using a few essential supplies like silicone molds, fondant, edible art paint and edible glitter. These pretty accents are an easy way to dress up a fall dessert and the best part is you can make them ahead of time!
Step 1: Use a small amount of yellow fondant to create leaves using a simple leaf mold and a maple leaf mold. To help get the fondant to pick up all the details of the mold and get in all the nooks and crannies use a fondant modeling tool set to help press the fondant into the mold.
Step 2: Using various colors of edible art paint like orange, kelly green, brown and gold, hand paint fall colors onto the surface of the fondant leaves. This is the fun part! Add multiple colors to each leaf to create the look of real fall leaves and to give the leaf some depth. And don't worry...during this step the leaves might look a little messy but the next step makes them look amazing!
Step 3: When the paint has set lightly brush on some gold edible art paint or gold luster dust. This helps blend the colors you used on the base coat and make them look elegant. To add the finishing touch use a food safe dusting brush to add a little tinker dust bright gold edible glitter to the surface of each leaf to give them a pretty sparkle. Allow the leaves to dry completely before adding to your fall sweet treats.
Step 4: Use a dot of royal icing or melted chocolate to adhere your completed fondant fall leaves to desserts like chocolates, cookies and macarons. It will take you fall sweets to the next level whether you are gifting them or creating a dessert display for a celebration!
