Unpolished & Pretty creates beautiful cake stands, cupcake stands, painted mason jars and more! A wide variety of colors and styles are offered in her Etsy shop. Our pastel rainbow nonpareils decorate the dessert stands and painted mason jar featured in our dessert table. We must say they are match made in heaven and her pieces are the perfect accents for our country chic dessert table. They add a lovely pop of color, whimsy and charm! A special cake stands meant a special cake was in order to showcase. We chose to make a rich vanilla bean naked cake. The cake layers are filled with a sweet, tart lemon curd to keep it moist and delicious. Our white sugar pearls where used for the border on each tier. The top of the cake was accented with fresh flowers and a whimsical sign.

Our country chic decor with pretty, rustic, whimsical elements was starting to come together. For a sweet feminine touch we used flowers both on the cake and in the pretty painted mason jar that is accented with sprinkles. Since the cake was small mini carnations were the perfect fit. We gave the flowers a little extra sparkle with our white sanding sugar! Simply mix 1 tablespoon of corn syrup with a splash of water to thin it out a little. Using soft paintbrush, add a light coat of the mixture on a few parts of the flower petals, then sprinkle with a little of the sanding sugar. This is a sweet way to add a special touch to flowers on any dessert display!

Sullivan Bakehouse makes darling sugar cookies that are frosted in chocolate not icing. We knew they would be a lovely treat to feature, especially when we found out they offered mason jar shaped cookies. Not only are they adorable but they smelled and tasted delicious! Two sizes are featured in our dessert display. You could package them in mini treat bags or display them in half pint berry baskets, which can then become take away gifts or party favors at the end of your sweet celebration. Finding ways to incorporate your favors into your dessert display is a nice way to show off your sweet treats and add extra detail. Edible decorations are always a nice touch for dessert tables!

The mason jar cookies looked perfect next the sprinkled mason jar vase. Hydrangeas picked from my garden and some of the mini carnations were placed in the vase to tie the country chic look all together. Flowers are a great fill in and you can have multiple vases of different sizes placed around your dessert table depending on how big your display is. Our mini honeycomb balls were used to fill in any empty spots on the dessert tabletop alongside pink rock candy sticks. A variety of color of honeycomb tissue paper balls were used to add some depth to the display and to pull out some of the other colors used on some of the other elements like the cream from the mason jar cookies and a soft blue from the matchbox cards. Since we loved the look of the rock candy sticks we decided to create a party drink featuring them too! Using small cocktail glasses that were a little shorter than the rock candy stick fill 3/4 of the glass with club soda and add a splash of key lime whipped cream vodka if you want a grown up drink. If you want a non alcoholic drink you can add some liquid pink lemonade water enhancer in place of the flavored vodka. Place a rock candy stick in each glass right before serving. The rock candy bubbles when added to the club soda mixture and dissolves over time. Use washi tape to create a little flag to decorate the end of your rock candy sticks.

Another whimsical element that added the perfect finishing touch to our display are some handmade matchbook cards from Shop3XU. We came across their Etsy shop a few months back and just love their small card creations! They offer a variety of themes including birthday, love, encouragement, thank you and more! Some "sweet" themed ones were the perfect choice feature on our dessert table. They too can become a nice party favor or keepsake. Having sweet little reminders of your celebration after it is over is a nice thing and these whimsical and fun little cards can do just that!

Keep calm and eat cupcakes! We couldn't agree more and knew our display had to have some especially after deciding to feature this particular matchbox card. One final tip when you are putting together a dessert table is that it’s nice to have a couple flavors for the desserts you will be offering. Since we made a vanilla bean cake with lemon curd we thought it would be nice to have something with chocolate. A couple weeks ago we made brownies that were divine and just knew they could be perfect for this display with a few alterations plus to make the taste buds of those who love chocolate happy! We baked them in our free standing dessert baking cups. Once cooled from baking each brownie was topped with slightly warmed hot fudge sauce and a sprinkle of our pastel rainbow nonpareils to match the cake stands and mason jar vase. When the hot fudge cools you can add a little frosting swirl to the top and finish with a sugar pearl. It is important to wait until the hot fudge has set back up so your frosting doesn't melt into it. You now have another sweet dessert for your sweet display! We made a special larger brownie to be featured on Unpolished and Pretty's special cupcake stand and it looked darling placed near the naked cake.

We hope you enjoyed our styled country chic dessert display and can use an idea or two for your next special event!
